Sender Policy Framework, or SPF, is a verification system, which is intended to prevent the so-called email spoofing where an email message can be sent from one email address, but to seem as being sent from another, usually with the idea to fraud the recipient in some way. When SPF protection is enabled for a domain name, a specific record is generated for it in the Domain Name System and all the DNS servers globally have it. The record includes all of the e-mail servers that are permitted to send valid messages from an address under the domain. When an email is sent, the very first DNS server it goes to checks the SPF record and in case its sending server is authorized, the message is sent to the targeted destination. If, however, the sending server is not present in the SPF record for the specified domain, the message won't be sent and it will be removed. In the event that you employ this service, it will stop third parties from sending spam emails that appear to have been sent by you.

SPF Protection in Cloud Web Hosting

If you host your domain names in a cloud web hosting account on our end and we handle the emails for them, you will be able to activate SPF protection for any of them with a few clicks inside your Hepsia Control Panel. The service is available in a separate section where you're able to view which domains are already secured. For those that aren't, you can enable the SPF protection option and set up a lot of things during this process - the hostnames of the mail servers that are allowed to send messages from your addresses, the IPv4 and IPv6 addresses of these servers, and to set a rule that messages can be sent only if your domains have our MX records. The aforementioned solution is the most secure one, but it can be used if we take care of the e-mail addresses for your domain names and you're not using another email service provider. The newly generated records will propagate within 1 day and nobody will be able to fake the FROM field in an email with your addresses.

SPF Protection in Semi-dedicated Hosting

When you have a semi-dedicated server account with us, you are able to protect your emails by activating the SPF protection service for any domain name hosted in your account with only a few mouse-clicks. This is done through the Emails section of the Hepsia Control Panel that comes with the semi-dedicated accounts and even when you have no previous experience with these kinds of things, you will not have any trouble to enable the security. Everything that you'll have to do is to select a domain name from a drop-down menu and then type the mail server hostname and IPv4 or IPv6 address. When the new record propagates, messages from your e-mail addresses will be mailed around the world only if they were sent from that server. If your emails are taken care of by us and not by some third-party provider, you'll also be able to use an option for emails to be sent only if the domain contains our MX records and the aforementioned would be the most secure option.
