If you wish to forward a domain that you have to another domain address or subdomain, one of the ways to do this would be to use a CNAME record. By creating such a record, the domain being forwarded loses all its records (A, MX, etc) and instead, it takes the A record of the Internet domain it's redirected to. This way, if you are using a web design service by some provider that gives you a subdomain, you can use an actual domain name and not only will it be redirected to the site which you have set up, but it will also be displayed in the web browser address bar at all times. Some other possible uses of a CNAME record are to point all of the targeted traffic from different subdomains to their main domain address, or to use the webmail service of your hosting company by using webmail.your-doman.com, for example. The latter will work only by creating a CNAME record for a subdomain since such a record set up for the main domain address renders it impossible to use e-mail addresses.

CNAME Records in Cloud Web Hosting

The Hepsia hosting Control Panel, which our company offers with each and every cloud web hosting, will enable you to create CNAME records for every domain address or subdomain hosted inside the account with several clicks. If you aren't sure how to go about it, you can check out the video tutorial that's available in the Control Panel, read the in depth Help article on the subject, or simply contact us and we can assist you 24/7, though it is unlikely that you'll experience any troubles as all it takes to set up a new CNAME record is to pick a domain/subdomain, input the hostname that you're redirecting to, and save the change. The new record will be fully active within the hour. Using CNAME records enables you to have better control of your domain names and site content and our system is simple and user-friendly enough to allow people who have no previous experience to set up this kind of records with ease.

CNAME Records in Semi-dedicated Hosting

If you have a semi-dedicated server with our company and you would like to set up a CNAME record, it takes only a couple of clicks to complete this task. The plans are managed through our in-house built Hepsia hosting Control Panel where you will find a section dedicated to the DNS records of the domain addresses and subdomains hosted within the account. To set up a CNAME record, you'll only have to select the record type and the hostname (domain or subdomain), enter where the latter is going to be redirected to and save the change. The new record is going to be active almost immediately in our system and will propagate worldwide within a few hours. Modifying or deleting an existing CNAME record within the account is equally simple and easy and takes a click. If you experience any issues, you can go through our in-depth help article, see the short video on the subject that we have added in the Control Panel, or you can simply contact us for help.
